Carey Mulligan Is Pretty In Pink on Vogue Australia’s January Cover

After revealing a total overhaul of the entire magazine back in September, Vogue Australia has been powering through with newfound confidence. After a gorgeous Margot Robbie cover for December, Aussie Vogue‘s cover for January is just as beautiful. Fresh from the cover of UK Harper’s Bazaar, Carey Mulligan is the title’s first cover girl of 2018, taking to the rooftops of New York City for a rather cinematic cover shoot. The actress was photographed by Emma Summerton wearing a show-stopping Giambattista Valli gown, styled by Christine Centenera.

Members of our forums were instant fans. “LOOOOOOOVE this! THAT is what I want to see in Vogue around the world: the haute couture, the drama, the over-the-top clothes/hair and makeup and pure glamour,” declared Bertrando3.

The cover images feels so… fashion and celebratory that I cannot help but to love it. Nice one, Vogue Australia!” vogue28 applauded.

SallyAlbright felt the same way. “Love this, dramatic and cool cover. I actually think Carey is quite underrated because she keeps her personal life so quiet. She’s definitely one of the most talented actresses in her age group, and seems to be very normal and cool as well,” she voiced.

Paris Jackson was wholeheartedly embraced by the fashion industry in 2017, signing a lucrative contract with Calvin Klein and covering the likes of Vogue Australia, Harper’s Bazaar, CR Fashion Book and Teen Vogue. Vogue Brazil (as well as Carine Roitfeld) ushers Paris into 2018, as the 19-year-old graces the title’s cover for January, following a series of Valentina Sampaio covers for December. Paris was photographed by Jacques Dequeker wearing Prada in the fairly simple black and white image.

Members of our forums weren’t having it. “What in the fresh hell is this?” asked a horrified dodencebt upon seeing the cover.

“They are trying very hard to make her happen but she is very irrelevant in this industry. She is neither a style icon or someone who is doing good music or movies. She has done nothing,” pointed out a completely disinterested Lola701.

“She’s not even that popular on social media – it just feels like it’s being forced upon us,” voiced magsaddict.

“A pretty girl, but not her best shot. It looks like she’s going through a teenage experiment of not washing her hair for several weeks,” added tigerrouge.

Valentine27 felt the same way, commenting, “She’s very pretty but this cover does nothing for her!”

Also not into the cover was forum member mistress_f: “I have so many questions… why is this girl everywhere? They’re really trying to make her happen, right? Also, what the hell is this cover? That red framing?!”

“What is that red thing/effect even trying to accomplish? This is a mess,” echoed Wintergreen.

Same Concept, New Designer and Photographer for Chloé’s Spring 2018 Campaign

In the latest game of designer musical chairs, Natacha Ramsay-Levi showcased her debut collection for Chloé during Paris Fashion Week in September and now her first advertising campaign for the French label just dropped. Still easily identifiable as Chloé, a bevy of models, including Alex Mark, Charlene Högger, Eliza Cummings, Fran Summers, Hayett McCarthy, Jing Wen, Line Kjaergaard, Makala Johnson, Radhika Nair, Rianne van Rompaey and Sophie Koella, come together for the feminine, fresh Spring 2018 campaign.

Since we half suspected the images were shot by someone like Charlotte Wales, our forum members were shocked to learn that Steven Meisel was behind the lens. “This was shot by Meisel? Seems like Natascha wanted to start off with a bang, but the actual campaign is a bit disappointing. And I also hate when girls are used as backdrops. Jing deserves her own shot,” fumed forum member mathiaskatz at once.

“For me, it’s a waste to use Meisel and to keep the same concept they have had for almost more than a decade now,” Lola701 pointed out.

Also dumbfounded was guimon, posting, “Meisel? Really? I can not believe it! This is so dull and the cast is so not Meisel!”

GERGIN couldn’t believe it, either. “I would have guessed it was maybe Charlotte Wales again but I’m surprised how well blended the concept is in comparison to past season? Although his traditional studio shots are more than welcome, especially for a brand like Chloé,” he said.

“Surely this can’t be by Meisel? It lacks his precision and focus that’s even present on the laziest of his shoots,” said Fiercification.

“Well… Meisel’s already shot half the campaigns this season so at least one dud is to be expected,” laughed GivenchyHomme.
